History

In Year 9 students are taught in sets determined by their English ability. Each set follows the same curriculum. The aim of the Year 9 course is to consolidate and develop historical skills, as well as knowledge and understanding, as a preparation for the GCSE course. Students learn about different peoples, cultures, ideas, places and events; improve their understanding of human experience and human behaviour and develop skills of critical evaluation, problem solving and communication. Students begin the GCSE course in the second half of the summer term in Year 9.

The GCSE syllabus is OCR B
